Ah! There it is -- a link. Should you click it? Your pulse quickens slightly...oh, no -- it's an affiliate link. That really spoils the mood.
But wait...there's something different about that link -- something special. You click it. You read the sales pitch...a little dry, but that's okay -- you didn't come here for the sales pitch.
You decide to buy -- the decision was easy. You click the "Buy" button. You enter your payment information. You hesitate...
Are you really ready to go all the way? Something clicks. It's your mouse. You submitted the payment. You download your prize. Oh, that felt great!
But will you regret it in the morning? Wait, there's another download! That was a freebie.
Is this a one-night stand, or are there possibilies for the future? Yes! You're being asked for your name and email address! This is really getting hot! You submit.
You'll meet again!
What's the difference between regular affiliate links that spoil the mood -- that have to be cloaked and hidden -- and seductive affiliate links (like the affiliate marketing gurus use) that people want to click -- that they're glad to click -- that they prefer to click?
Here's your first hint: it's not the link itself, it's something close to the link.
How do you turn a "one-night stand" affiliate sale -- where you get your commission and part, never to meet again -- into a long term relationship, where you get chances to sell again and again?
Here's your second hint: the difference is in the value that you, the affiliate, add to the purchase.
How do you do that? One way is to provide useful information, like an honest review of the product. But many customers don't trust reviewers who use affiliate links, and you can't fool everyone with cloaked links.
Here's your first key: a better way is to offer extra bonuses to customers who buy through your affiliate links.
If you were going to buy a "Peel Away Ads" script, which option would you choose:
- Type in the seller's URL to avoid any affiliate links.
- Click any link, affiliate or not.
